I don’t know who’s fronting the cost for the servers required to keep this afloat, but Sucker Punch will have Ghosts of Tsushima coming within the next year or two. If anything, I’m surprised they’ve kept it up this long.
It’s not even that malicious, honestly, it’s just purely logical. It costs money to run a service like this, and while I fully agree that it sucks for a new player to never have the opportunity to complete the mission, which was extremely cool and had a great reward, it makes complete sense from a business standpoint.
Also if I recall correctly, it was a preorder bonus or a new game only thing, it definitely was a code in the box, and I can almost guarantee you that the vast majority of sales of this game at this point will be used copies, which Sony gets no money from. There’s no actual DLC that could be integrated with this, and this one side mission is definitely not getting people to buy the game, so they’re making absolutely zero dollars keeping it online. Why would they let us down while many other games are still running in full service?īecause at this point, it’s an old game that likely doesn’t sell many copies. I don't think Sucker Punch or Infamous are running into financial troubles to cut the support for just a site.

They did it with Gravity Rush 2 and many other games without offering a compensation to how to get such trophies or rewards after servers shutting down, let alone the extra pre-order stuff for all their games (except Spider-Man) that they never made available somehow after release. I have Infamous Second Son for many years now but I didn't play it yet (started it a little) because I need to play the first games first but mostly since the game a HDR update and I was waiting to get a 4K TV that supports HDR to start playing games with HDR.
